I don't quite understand why people perceive "practical mind" as being "cold mind". Let me assure you, there's hell lot of difference between the two. A practical minded person, does have all the emotions and all, the only added thing that a normal being doesn't have is the ability to think clearly without letting emotions get in the way. Doesn't mean that he/she doesn't have emotions, it's just that he/she knows when to let them flow and when to keep them in check. He'she knows how to have a clear thought and an eventual decision.
However, as I said before, it DOES NOT mean that the person has NO emotions. It doesn't mean that you can treat him/her like he/she were your toy. Infact, this would rather more likely invite trouble to you. For the practical mind will say, it happens but will see to it that you realize that YOU are a bloody fool, not me.
Now coming to the difference between cold hearted and practical. Cold hearted is one who doesn't care about emotions, doesn't care what you think or you don't think. That's not the case with the "Practical mind" it thinks rationally, is considerate, but doesn't get overwhelmed by emotions.
Lastly, no person who seems to be practical or claims to be practical is 100% practical, he/she, usually, is just trying to shun the emotions away because of the nature of experience had previously. He/she is just trying really hard to ignore emotions.. Does make him/her look practical, feel practical and behave practically but doesn't mean, from within, he/she IS practical..
Please be careful while dealing with such people... There's a lot more to them than what seems there is outwardly... Don't have to be scared of them.. but think before you make any conclusions and assumptions about them.
